Ghost town gold Cover Image Large Print Book Large Print Book

Ghost town gold / William Colt MacDonald.

Summary:

Tucson Smith, Lullaby Joslin, and Stony Brooke had ridden into Prospect looking to buy some bulls from Marty Barrett when Tucson saw a pretty girl lose a piece of paper from her pocket. He rushed to pick it up to return it to her, but when Gus Brown tried to fight him for it, he determined to learn the story behind it and help the girl, Sabina Thornton, in any way he could. Marty told Tucson that 20 years ago, the Prospect Bank, owned by Jim Thornton, had been robbed. The six bank robbers had been tracked to a cave. All six had been killed, but the 50,000 dollars in gold had never been found. Jim Thornton was able to use his own money to make good on the loss, but he died about a year later and his wife shortly after that. Marty and his wife had raised the Thornton's daughter, Sabina, and if the gold was ever found, it would go to her. Since Sabina had already left town, Marty, Tucson, Lullaby and Stony headed to the ghost-town of Nemesis to look for the gold where an initial search found ramshackle buildings, a crazy prospector and more questions than answers. Soon Dirk Barrington and his dozen henchmen would come pouring into town, spoiling for a shoot-out and hoping to find the gold for themselves.
